The Zheng research group in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department at Kent State University, Ohio, USA is seeking to hire a
postdoctoral fellow in medicinal chemistry and drug research.
The role of the fellow is to integrate biochemical, organic chemical, medicinal chemical, drug delivery principles and cell based bioactivity screening in the research work; design and synthesis of novel
bioactive compounds that support the basic biology, drug discovery, drug delivery and bioactivity test research efforts in the area of metal-based drugs, especially in the platinum drug research and application.
Duties and responsibilities include design and selection of target compounds; organic synthesis design, preparation, purification and
characterization of new compounds; drug delivery of new compounds and cell bioactivity test research efforts analysis and interpretation of data related to the project; documentation of all experiments in notebooks including written, publication quality, experimental procedures; participation in group meetings; supervising graduate students and technicians in
medicinal chemistry, drug delivery and cell experiments. The position will allow the candidate to working closely with biochemists and biophysicists.
Finally, the scientist will also write manuscripts and grants.
